Not Just a Finance Bro - MC Mentorship Series

What’s it really like to work in Hong Kong’s finance industry?
On Tuesday 24 September, MCAA hosted a talk back in the college’s TV room to discuss that. Recent graduates Tony Kuo, Seyrence Lee, and Thiha Chi, all of whom work at major finance/consulting firms, took part in a discussion moderated by Junior Fellow Serag Heiba.
Current students of all backgrounds came prepared with their own questions for the panel, seeking mentorship and personal advice. Even after the sharing has concluded, current MC students just would not let our alumni go as they were so intrigued by our alumnis’ sharing that they wanted more!
Highlights from the talk include Tony’s revelation that he dreamed of making it big as a baseball player before deciding to become a full-time investment banker. Seyrence shared the unusual story of how he landed his job at Oliver Wyman, which drove home an important message about getting out of one’s comfort zone. Thiha, in response to a question about mistakes made and lessons learned, had everyone laughing as he recounted an embarrassing moment at BlackRock.
This is part of the mentorship series which MCAA is organizing ahead of the upcoming inaugural mentorship program that aims to connect our alumni with current MC students.
